Study Summary: This study looks at how eating foods with lots of fiber, especially legumes like beans, can help people who are overweight or have had certain types of colon polyps lose weight and lower their risk of colon cancer. Fiber is a part of food that our bodies don't digest but helps keep our guts healthy. It is broken down by bacteria in our gut to make things like short chain fatty acids (SCFA), which are good for our health. The study also checks if a high-fiber diet can change gut bacteria to help with weight loss and reduce cancer risk.

  • Study Length: 12 months, with different diet phases.
  • Visits: Participants may need to visit the clinic for exams and tests.
  • Eligibility: Adults aged 40-75, overweight, and have had certain polyps in the last 3 years.

Participants will get meals with legumes for 6 months and then continue on their own for another 6 months. The study aims to see if this diet helps in losing weight and keeping the colon healthy.
