Study of DISC-0974 to Assess the Safety, Tolerability, PK and PD of DISC-0974 in Participants with CKD and Anemia

Examining DISC-0974's effects on CKD-related anemia.

Phase 1

This study is testing a new medicine called DISC-0974 for adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and anemia. Anemia is when your blood doesn't have enough healthy red blood cells. The study will see how safe DISC-0974 is and how it works in the body, which is known as pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD). Participants must have CKD that doesn't require dialysis, and low levels of hemoglobin (a protein in red blood cells).

3 Key Points:

  • Duration & Visits: The study is in Phase 1b, meaning it's in early stages of testing. It will require several visits for check-ups and monitoring.
  • Eligibility: Patients must be 18 or older, have CKD, and meet specific health criteria, like certain blood levels.
  • Exclusions: Participants can't have used certain anemia treatments recently, have recent serious health issues, or be pregnant.

If you're interested, you'll need to stop taking iron supplements a few days before joining. This study can help develop new treatments for CKD patients with anemia, but it's important to consider your health and any risks before joining.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?
