Nephrotic Syndrome is a kidney condition that can lead to serious problems like end-stage kidney disease, where kidneys stop working. It's caused by diseases like Minimal Change Disease (MCD), Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), and Membranous Nephropathy (MN). Current treatments often have bad side effects and don’t always work. This study, supported by several universities and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), aims to learn more about these diseases and find better ways to treat them.
The study is divided into two groups: Cohort A for those who need a kidney biopsy and Cohort B for children under 19 years with certain symptoms. Participants must meet specific criteria like high levels of protein in urine. However, people with other kidney conditions or serious health issues cannot join.
- Study Length: Long-term, observational data collection.
- Visits: Regular visits required for monitoring and tests.
- Risks: Participation may involve some medical procedures like biopsies.
This research is crucial to understanding these diseases better, providing hope for improved treatments in the future.
