Phase N/A

Study Overview: This research wants to understand how body fat and muscle affect health in people with cystic fibrosis (CF), a genetic disorder that causes lung and digestive problems. Researchers will look at 60 people with CF and 30 healthy volunteers aged 16-30. Forty people with CF will return annually for 2 years. The study aims to improve future health care for CF patients by understanding nutrition and body composition better.

Methods: The study will measure body fat using MRI, body composition with a DEXA scan, and how the body handles sugar with an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). Researchers will also check lung health with clinical data and patient feedback.

  • Participation: Involves annual visits for 2 years.
  • Eligibility: You must be at least 16 years old and have no recent changes in medication.
  • Exclusions: Includes CF-related diabetes and recent infections or chronic diseases.

The goal is to find better ways to monitor and support the health of people with CF through their nutrition and body composition.
