EndoCheck Study Summary

EndoCheck is a study to test a new way to help find endometriosis, a condition causing pain in the lower belly, using a computer program called a deep neural network. This program checks for certain proteins in the blood to see if endometriosis is present. Doctors usually diagnose endometriosis through a surgery called laparoscopy, but this test hopes to help make the diagnosis easier.

The study aims to see how well the EndoCheck test works compared to laparoscopy. It needs to correctly identify endometriosis in at least 94% of cases and correctly dismiss it in 79% of cases. The study will also look at how well the test works in women with different pain levels.

Women between the ages of 14 and 50 who are scheduled for laparoscopic surgery can join, but they must not be pregnant, have certain infections, or have participated in another clinical trial recently.

  • The study is observational, so no treatment will be given.
  • Participants will need to provide blood samples for the test.
  • There is no compensation mentioned for this study.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?
