This study is about a new program called Integrative Strong Body and Mind Training (I-STRONG) for kids with sickle cell disease (SCD) who have pain. Sickle cell disease is a life-long illness that affects the shape of red blood cells, causing pain. The study will check if I-STRONG is helpful and easy to use. I-STRONG is based on another program, FIT Teens, which helped kids with a different pain condition called fibromyalgia. I-STRONG combines exercises for the mind and body to help manage pain without worsening it. The study involves two parts: first, making I-STRONG fit well for SCD patients, and second, testing how well it works with 12 kids. They want to see if kids and parents like it and if it helps with pain.
- This study lasts for 8 weeks and includes 16 sessions.
- Participants must speak English and be between 12 to 18 years old.
- Kids with other serious health issues may not be able to join.
