This study focuses on helping people with substance use disorders (SUD), which means having trouble controlling the use of drugs or alcohol. It involves 600 participants, who will be divided into three groups. One group will meet with a peer recovery coach (PRC) in person, another will meet via video call (telemedicine), and the last group will receive usual care with a list of resources. PRCs are trained individuals who help guide people towards recovery resources. They will also follow up with participants after they leave the emergency department (ED) to offer continued support.
Participants must be over 18 years old, have visited the ED recently, and speak English. They should be able to understand and agree to the study's rules. Follow-up visits will happen on days 7, 30, and 90 after joining the study, mainly by phone, but in-person visits are an option.

- Follow-Up: Mainly telephone-based, with an in-person option.
- Eligibility: Over 18, ED visit in last 24 hours, English-speaking.
