This study looks at genetic testing for African American and Caucasian patients with ovarian and endometrial cancer. Genetic testing helps find changes in genes that may cause cancer. The study involves testing tumor and blood samples, which are taken about two weeks after surgery at AU Health Medical Center. The goal is to see if more African American patients can be encouraged to participate in genetic testing. About 30 people will take part, and it will take about a year to complete.
Participants must be 18 or older and newly diagnosed with certain types of cancer. They will be asked to give a blood and tumor sample for testing. A short questionnaire about genetic testing will also be given. There are no reasons for someone to be excluded from joining.
- Participation lasts about one year.
- Participants must visit the clinic two weeks after surgery.
- There are no risks mentioned, but samples and questionnaires are required.
