Smoke Free SafeCare is a program for families involved with Child Protective Services (CPS) to help keep homes smoke-free and improve parenting. It combines two programs: *Some Things are Better Outside (STBO)*, which helps families set smoke-free home rules, and *SafeCare*, which teaches parenting skills to reduce child maltreatment (bad treatment). STBO has been shown to successfully create smoke-free homes in families with low income. SafeCare is widely used in the U.S. to improve parenting for families involved with CPS. This study tests if combining these programs can help families keep homes smoke-free while improving parenting. *Key points to consider*:
- The study lasts 18 weeks, with SafeCare visits made to your home.
- Participants must have a child aged 0-5 (or 0-9 in Oklahoma) and have in-home smoking.
- Participants should understand consent, which is explained by research staff.
