Phase N/A

Caregiving While Black is a study aimed at helping Black American caregivers of people with dementia. Dementia is a condition that affects memory and thinking skills. The study will test an online course that teaches skills and knowledge to make caregiving easier. There are two phases in this study, and participants may join one or both. To be eligible, caregivers must be 18 years or older, identify as Black American, and provide regular hands-on care. They need to be the main supporter for someone living with dementia and have access to the internet. Participants should plan on staying in the study for about 6 months.

  • Participants might receive training immediately or after a 3-month wait.
  • There will be data collection at three different times over 6 months.
  • Caregivers will join in groups of 10 for the study activities.

This study could improve the quality of life for caregivers and the people they care for. It aims to support Black communities by addressing the challenges they face in providing care. Participants will help researchers understand how to make the course even better and more helpful for others in the future.
