This study looks at how having a Personalized Pain Coach helps people with sports injuries manage pain after orthopedic surgery. The coaches, called Life Care Specialists, teach patients non-drug ways to manage pain, like mindfulness, and help them recover better without relying too much on opioids. Opioids are strong pain medicines that can be dangerous if used for too long. In the study, 150 people will either work with a Life Care Specialist in person or online or get regular written instructions for pain management. The study will last three months, with four visits. The goal is to see if people using Life Care Specialists have less pain and use fewer opioids than those who don't.
- Participants: 150 people, ages 15-45, with sports-related injuries, will join.
- Duration: The study lasts 3 months with 4 visits.
- Eligibility: Must be employed or a full-time athlete; cannot be pregnant or unable to speak English.
