This study is testing a medicine called bremelanotide for people with a kidney disease caused by Type II diabetes, also known as diabetic nephropathy. In this study, 45 people will take bremelanotide along with their regular medicine, called RAAS inhibitors, for six months. RAAS inhibitors help control blood pressure. After six months, doctors will check their kidneys again to see if there's any improvement.
Key Points:
- The study lasts for 12 months, and you will need to take the medicine for the first six months.
- Participants will have regular health check-ups during this period.
- Some people may not be allowed to join the study if they have certain health issues, like a single kidney or a history of certain diseases.
To be part of the study, you need to have Type II diabetes with specific kidney problems and be between 18 and 80 years old. You should also be on a stable dose of diabetes and blood pressure medicine. Women and men must agree to use birth control during the study and for a certain period after the study ends. If you're interested, talk to your doctor to see if you qualify.
