Phase N/A

This study is for patients having urologic surgery, which involves surgery related to the urinary system. Participants will start either a fitness plan or a nutrition plan. Before surgery, participants will keep doing their normal activities for two days to get a baseline. They will wear a pedometer, a device that counts steps, and answer questions about their nutrition. After two days, the fitness group will aim for 10,000 steps daily and do strength exercises three times a week. The nutrition group will drink two liquid nutrition drinks like Boost or Ensure each day, five days before and after surgery. Key Points:

  • No exclusion criteria; anyone meeting the inclusion criteria can join.
  • Participants will be involved for about a week before surgery and a week after.
  • Participants will track their activities or drinks consumed.
Improving exercise and nutrition can help with recovery and reduce risks during surgery. The study checks if being more active or improving diet helps patients recover better and have fewer complications after surgery. Participants need to be able to give blood samples, fill out questionnaires, and logs.
