Acute Gout Flare Study

This study looks at how well a medicine called dapansutrile (or OLT1177®) works for people with gout, a type of arthritis that causes sudden pain and swelling in the joints. The study involves taking tablets either of dapansutrile or a placebo (a pill with no medicine) twice a day for 7 days. A placebo-controlled study means some people will not receive the actual medicine, which helps researchers compare the results.

To join, you must be at least 18 years old and have been diagnosed with gout. You cannot join if you have certain other health issues like rheumatoid arthritis, kidney disease, or if you've had a severe infection recently. If you qualify, you'll visit the clinic on Days 1, 4, 8, and 15, and safety data will be collected until Day 36.

  • Participants may receive either dapansutrile or a placebo.
  • Study lasts about 36 days with 4 clinic visits.
  • Rescue medication is provided, but other pain medicines are not allowed.
