Phase 1

This clinical trial is studying a new drug, EC5026, for people with neuropathic pain caused by spinal cord injury (SCI). Neuropathic pain is pain resulting from nerve damage and spinal cord injury refers to damage to the spine affecting movement and sensation. The study's goal is to see if EC5026 is safe and if it helps with pain. Participants will take either EC5026 or a placebo, a harmless pill that looks like the real medicine, for 14 days.

Throughout the study, participants will have physical exams, heart tests (ECG), and blood tests. They will also answer questions about their pain, sleep, and daily activities. The study requires veterans aged 18 and older who have had spinal cord injuries for over a year and can travel to the study site every day.

  • The study lasts for 14 days with daily visits.
  • Participants will not know if they are taking EC5026 or placebo.
  • Eligibility requires stable health conditions and specific test results.

Participants must agree to use contraception and avoid certain medications and substances. The trial aims to provide insights into EC5026's safety and effectiveness in treating neuropathic pain.
