Phase 4

The CLOZAPINE study is a research project that tests how a drug called clozapine works on people with certain mental illnesses like schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and psychotic bipolar I disorder. This study is special because it involves 5 different locations and uses a plan where neither the participants nor the researchers know who is getting clozapine or a different drug, risperidone. **Psychosis** means having symptoms like seeing or hearing things that aren't there. **Clozapine** and **risperidone** are medications used to treat these symptoms. The scientists think that clozapine will help certain people more than others based on their brain activity, which is measured using a test called EEG (Electroencephalogram). They aim to enroll 320 participants in the trial. Participants must be 18-60 years old and able to give consent. People with certain health issues or who are pregnant cannot join.

  • Study lasts until enough participants are enrolled and results are collected.
  • Potential side effects or previous issues with clozapine or risperidone may affect eligibility.
  • Participants will be compensated for their time.
