This research aims to improve how young people with cancer risk syndromes, called AYAs, talk about their condition and make decisions. A "cancer risk syndrome" is when certain gene changes make someone more likely to get cancer. The study uses a tool called AYA-RISE to help with communication. The study involves three parts:
- Aim 1: Participants will use and review AYA-RISE and give feedback. This part includes 30-minute interviews.
- Aim 2: Participants are split into two groups. One group gets standard genetic counseling, and the other gets counseling plus access to AYA-RISE.
- Aim 3: The study will conduct interviews to understand how well AYA-RISE is working.
Key Points:
- Participants include AYAs aged 12-24 with cancer risk syndromes, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
- Involves surveys, interviews, and using a chatbot and online portal.
- Participants can opt for standard genetic counseling or counseling with AYA-RISE.
