Positive Youth Development in the Metaverse is a pilot study using virtual reality (VR) to make afterschool programs better. VR is a technology that lets you experience things as if you are really there, even if you are not in the same place. The study will try using VR to help kids learn and practice important life skills, like understanding feelings and working with others. This can be done from home, making it easier for kids who can't always get to the afterschool program. The study wants to see if adding VR to these programs makes them more interesting and helpful for kids. It will also check if kids feel better mentally when VR is used along with regular programs. This study will help decide if a bigger study should be done to prove these benefits.

  • Study Length: Information not specified; check with organizers.
  • Visits: No need to travel, can participate from home.
  • Eligibility: Must be part of the Chess & Community program, aged 9-17, and able to wear a VR headset.
