High vs.Standard Dose Influenza Vaccine in Pediatric Solid Organ Transplant (SOT) Recipients

Testing flu vaccine doses for kids with transplants.

Phase 2
Study Summary

Purpose: This study tests if kids who had organ transplants get better protection from the flu with a higher dose flu shot. Transplants are when someone gets a new organ like a heart, liver, or kidney. The flu shot is a vaccine that helps protect against the influenza virus, which is a germ that can make you very sick.

How it Works: This is a phase II trial, which means it looks at how safe and effective something is. We want to see if two higher dose flu shots work better than two regular dose shots for children 1-23 months after their transplant. We will compare safety and how well the vaccine works between these two groups.

Who Can Join: 312 children, aged 3-17, who've had a heart, liver, or kidney transplant, can join if it's been 1-23 months since their transplant.

  • Study Length: 3 years.
  • Participation: Two groups getting either regular or high-dose flu shots.
  • Safety: Regular checks for flu symptoms during flu season.
