Phase 2

This study looks at a new medicine called AZD5004 for adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). In T2DM, the body has trouble using a hormone called insulin, which helps control blood sugar. The study will run for 26 weeks and includes taking a pill once a day. Some people will get AZD5004, and others will get a placebo, which is a pill with no medicine, to compare results. You must be at least 18 years old, have had T2DM for at least 6 months, and have a certain level of blood sugar, called HbA1c, which should be between 7.0% and 10.5%. Your weight should be stable for 3 months before the study. If you have had severe eye problems or certain stomach issues, you cannot join. The study will take place in about 15 countries and involve 90 sites.

  • Lasts for 26 weeks with daily pills.
  • Involves multiple visits to study sites.
  • Participants may receive a placebo.
