This study is for older adults with Stable Angina (chest pain due to heart issues) and multiple ongoing health problems. It compares two types of heart medications: Beta-Blockers (BB) and Calcium Channel Blockers (CCB). These medications help improve heart symptoms, function, and quality of life. The trial lasts one year and includes four visits, where patients will participate in interviews, a six-minute walk test, and a review of their medical records.
Adults who can join should be 70 years or older (or 65 for certain minorities) and have at least two chronic health conditions. They must also have a stable heart condition and not be currently taking BB or CCB. Participants cannot join if they have certain health conditions that conflict with the study medications, plan to have major heart surgery soon, or are part of another medical study.
- Study Length: 12 months with 4 visits.
- Participants: 70+ years old with specific heart conditions.
- Goal: Understand medication effects on older adults' heart health.
This study will help doctors understand which medication works better and is safer for older adults with heart problems.
