This study is testing a new medicine called JNJ-89495120 to see if it helps people with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). MDD is a type of depression that affects a person’s feelings, thoughts, and actions. The study compares JNJ-89495120 with a placebo, a treatment that looks like the real medicine but has no active ingredients.
If you join this study, you must have a history of depression diagnosed before age 55 and be in a current episode lasting between 2 and 24 months. You can participate if you have tried up to two treatments for your current depression. People with certain other mental health issues or those who have had specific treatments like electroconvulsive therapy or ketamine cannot join.
- The study will evaluate how effective and safe the new medicine is compared to a placebo.
- You must meet specific health criteria to participate, like a certain body mass index (BMI).
- Some mental health conditions or treatments in your history may prevent you from joining.
