"I Can Do This! Managing My Diabetes" is a study aimed at helping people with diabetes manage their condition better. It uses a fun word game-based workbook to teach important skills, like how to manage carbohydrates (a type of food that affects blood sugar). Participants will complete the workbook either in the clinic or at home and attend follow-up sessions to see if their self-confidence and blood sugar control improve.
Diabetes is a big health issue, affecting 37 million people in the U.S. It can cause serious problems, like heart attacks and kidney failure. Unfortunately, only a small number of people get the education they need to manage it. This study hopes to change that by making learning fun and accessible, especially for people who might not have easy access to healthcare.
- Commitment: Requires completing a workbook and follow-up sessions.
- Eligibility: Adults with type 2 diabetes managed without insulin.
- Benefits: Learn diabetes management in an engaging way.
Participants should be able to read English and be willing to return for a follow-up visit in 3 months.
